Corodo: coaching in a spirit of friendship & trust

One of the most impactful partnerships for Corodo is undoubtedly the one with Rob Cuijvers, managing director of Creatic Digital Agency. As an entrepreneur, Rob has been a loyal sparring partner and customer of Corodo for many years: it’s a solid partnership, the epitome of how we continue to seek connection in our coaching.

Back in the day, it was not Rob who knocked on Dominic’s door, but Dominic on Rob’s. He had felt for some time that the sports world needed a breath of fresh air; a well-thought-out marketing strategy that not only brought in more sponsors but also fostered greater appreciation for the sector. He knew Creatic from social media and decided to send an e-mail.

“I distinctly remember the moment Rob called me back. I was with my daughter, on the way to her dance class. And call it intuition or mere chance, but that brief conversation in the car immediately confirmed my gut feeling: this is somewhere people will listen to my vision with an open mind.

The first meeting between the two, at Creatic’s office, was a great success. Afterwards, Dominic left feeling content, yet there was something he couldn’t stop thinking about. The next day, he decided to call Rob back, suggesting a collaboration.

“Rob had mentioned several times that he was genuinely inspired by what I was doing. And the realisation dawned: what if we could elevate each other to the next level?”

Rob was immediately enthusiastic and decided to work with Dominic. It was a hit: 10 coaching sessions and a brief holiday later, further collaboration was inevitable. To continue achieving sustainable results, a new concept was devised on a more intensive basis.

“The approach was simple but effective: Rob would call me daily to discuss his working day and talk about the next steps. It was anything but self-evident, but he gradually got into the rhythm and flow and began to visibly experience the benefits for his leadership and entrepreneurship. To this day, we still feel the need for that personal consultation quite intensely.”

However, to reap the benefits they had to develop a close relationship of trust. “For us, business and leisure are inextricably linked. I am Rob’s coach, but also – and just as importantly – his friend. We work on this very consciously because it is the only way we can successfully challenge each other. Me challenging him, and him challenging me.”

The continuous cross-pollination between Rob and Dominic is here to stay, that much is clear. And meanwhile, the coaching sessions they create together have also evolved into new forms. For example, for Creatic’s creative team, the duo now also organises a ‘Mastermind’ every few months at varying locations. A what? Find out here.
